The author develops \(C^0\)- and \(C^1\)-exponentially fitted methods for one-dimensional, time-dependent convection-diffusion-reaction equations and generalizes his previous results. These exponential techniques for steady linear convection-diffusion operators is linearly stable and monotonic. Moreover the exponentially fitted techniques account for characteristic time of reaction, diffusion and residence, and the time step employed on the discretization of the time variable can use adaptive refinement techniques. Four different exponentially fitted techniques which account for convection processes, diffusion processes, for convection and diffusion processes, and for only diffusion processes are developed. The last three of these methods usually require iterative techniques to provide accurate solutions.
