The present article presents a new robust control for uncertain dynamic systems with sector nonlinear input. The approach is based on the construction of a variable structure controller (VSC) for the purpose of stabilizing the uncertain system with series nonlinearities. The following results are obtained: (i) The proposed VSC can drive the trajectories of the uncertain system with nonlinear input onto the sliding mode; (ii) The uncertain system with input nonlinearity remains insensitive to parameter variation and/or disturbance in the case of a system with linear input in the sliding mode; (iii) The proposed VSC law is applicable to a system with and without sector-bounded nonlinearities. A numerical example illustrates the validity of the VSC controller.
