The author extends the result of [\textit{M. J. Mączyński} and \textit{T. Traczyk} [``A characterization of orthomodular partially ordered sets admitting a full set of states'', Bull. Acad. Pol. Sci., Ser. Sci. Math. Astron. Phys. 21, 3-8 (1973; Zbl 0265.06003)], who gave a fuzzy set representation for orthomodular posets (resp. orthomodular lattices) admitting order determining sets of states. Generalizations to orthoalgebras and effect algebras (as well as \(\sigma\)-effect algebras and complete effect algebras) are given. Important examples of generalized structures admitting fuzzy set representations are presented. The use of fuzzy sets is essential; the orthoalgebras representable by crisp sets are necessarily orthomodular posets, so representations using crisp sets would not lead to a real generalization. For completeness, fuzzy quantum logics and fuzzy set representations of semisimple MV-algebras are presented.
