The problem of equivalence of differential, functional and difference equations is investigated. The authors offer the next scheme of the relations between the above equations that can be described by the following diagram: differential; functional; difference; differential. The notion of functional network is introduced as an alternative to neural networks. Functional networks are used for approximation of functional and difference equations, and a method for estimation of the coefficients of these equation is given. Some examples of applications are given to illustrate the method.
