The authors present an analysis of the action variables of the Kovalevskaya top based on the Novikov-Veselov result. The action integrals are expressed in another, more suitable form as an abelian integral of the third kind on the Kovalevskaya curve. With the help of this formula the Picard-Fuchs equations for the action variables are derived.
