The authors study the class of quadratic volume-preserving maps that have quadratic inverses. The study of such class relies on the characterization of quadratic shears for which in this work the authors obtain simpler characterizations that are extensions to higher dimensions of the known results for the cases \(n=2\) and \(n=3\). Also a simplified proof of the Moser's theorem about the composition of quadratic symplectic map in \(\mathbb{R}^{2n}\) into affine symplectic maps and a quadratic shear is obtained. In addition, a subfamily of quadratic shears is constructed by applying of Moser's theorem.
