Let \(G\) be a discrete group and \(K\) a subgroup of finite index. The author considers the associated restriction (or transfer) map in topological Hochschild homology. In particular, he computes this map in terms of ordinary group homology transfers. This gives information on the corresponding restriction map in \(K\)-theory via the topological Dennis trace map from \(K\)-theory to topological Hochschild homology. The main technical ingredient is the construction of a new model of topological Hochschild homology, by fusing the Bökstedt model with the \(\Gamma^+\)-construction of \textit{M. G. Barratt} and \textit{P. J. Eccles} [``\(\Gamma^+\)-structures. I: A free group functor for stable homotopy theory'', Topology 13, 25-45 (1974; Zbl 0292.55010)].
