In the modelling of nonequilibrium gas dynamics, such as detonation and radiation hydrodynamics, the system of conservation laws governing the inviscid flow contains source terms representing chemistry. Numerical computations of such equations with dominant source terms, using the usual form of MacCormack predictor-corrector method, exhibit errors in wave speed. Here, modifications in the MacCormack scheme are proposed that remove these errors.
