The authors consider the problem of finding a smooth surface interpolating position and direction given in a finite number of data points in \(\mathbb{R}^ 3\), and they give interpolation methods based on quintic patches. The former method yields surfaces of \(GC^ 1\) smoothness, whereas surfaces constructed with the latter are of almost \(GC^ 2\) smoothness. A local method is proposed, based on employing degenerate triangular Bernstein-Bézier patches.
