A positivity result and normalization of positive convolution structures (Q1318154): Difference between revisions

The author investigates positive characters (also called symmetric dimension functions) on certain commutative positive convolution algebras. In this way, results of the author are extended from commutative hypergroups to more general structures endowed with a convolution. In particular, hypergroups of Sunder-type and certain convolution structures of Szwarc are studied in detail. If there exist such positive characters one can introduce a deformed convolution on the Banach space of all bounded regular Borel measures, at least if the basic space \(K\) is discrete.
