As is already known, the tangent sphere bundle \(T_ 1 M\) of a Riemannian manifold \(M\) admits the so-called standard contact metric structure. \textit{D. E. Blair} [Geometry and topology, World Scientific, Singapore, 15-30 (1989)] has proven that this structure is locally symmetric iff the base manifold \(M\) is flat or of dimension 2 and of constant curvature \(+1\). In the present paper, it is shown that the structure is conformally flat iff \(M\) is a surface of constant Gauss curvature 0 or \(+1\). The authors have also stated an additional result on conformally flat contact metric manifolds for which the Ricci operator commutes with the almost contact metric operator.
