Main properties of the bounded proximal topology \(\sigma_ d\) defined on the space of closed subsets of a metric space are described. Some applications to minimization problems are considered. In particular, it is shown that if a function \(f\) which is well-posed in a certain sense is the \(\sigma_ d\)-limit of a sequence \(\{f_ n\}\) of lower semicontinuous functions, then the set of minimizers of \(f\) is the \(\sigma_ d\)-limit of sublevel sets of the sequence \(\{f_ n\}\).
