When several standard maps are coupled together, KAM (Kolmogorov-Arnold- Moser) surfaces cannot isolate stochastic regions, and particles diffuse along stochastic lakers by the process of Arnold diffusion. The local Arnold diffusion in a system of coupled standard maps is shown to be enhanced if the number of maps driving the diffusion is increased. When the system diffuses globally, the diffusion distance is shown to increase as the square root of the number of maps in the system. Not all assumptions made in calculation have been checked in detail, and the authors warn about a significant difference between the diffusion in fully-coupled (symplectic) mappings and the non-fully-coupled mappings, which is not explained by the calculation of the global diffusion enhancement.
