Generalizing results of Speziale et al., the authors examine the equilibrium states of rotating plane turbulent flows subjeted to the effects of shear or strain. The long-time behaviour of second-order turbulence models, including the classical model transport equation for the dissipation rate, has been investigated. By means of an asymptotic analysis method the authors demonstrate that the turbulent kinetic energy and the turbulent dissipation rate asymptotically satisfy either a power law with time or undergo an exponential law of growth with time. The influence of the rotation number on the long-time behaviour is analysed. Finally, the analytical results are compared with results of numerical simulations.
