The authors prove the following two interesting results for a 1-connected Poincaré complex \(X\) (i.e. \(X\) is a simply-connected space with rational cohomology of finite type and satisfies Poincaré duality): (1) \(\text{cat}_0 (X)= \text{cl}_0 (X)\), where \(\text{cat}_0 (X)\) is the rational category of \(X\) and \(\text{cl}_0 (X)\) is the rational cone length of \(X\). (2) If \(X\) is a CW-complex of dimension \(N\) having \(Y\) the \((N-1)\)-skeleton so that \(X\) has the rational homotopy type of \(Y\cup e^N\), then \(\text{cat}_0 (X)= \text{cat}_0 (Y)+1\).
