By a result of \textit{D. E. Radford} [J. Algebra 163, No. 3, 583-622 (1994; Zbl 0801.16039)], a finite dimensional Hopf algebra \(A\) is a symmetric algebra iff \(A\) is unimodular and the square of the antipode is an inner algebra automorphism. The author constructs a finite dimensional unimodular Hopf algebra for which the square of the antipode is not inner.
