On universal Korovkin sets w. r. t positive spectral contractions (Q1384101): Difference between revisions

It is proved that if \(A\) is a commutative Banach algebra with continuous symmetric involution, then a subset \(S\) of \(A\) is a universal Korovkin set with respect to positive spectral contractions if and only if the image of \(S\) by Gelfand transformation has the same property in the algebra of continuous functions on the maximal ideal space vanishing at infinity. This is an improvement of a result due to S. Romanelli. As an application, the authors obtain some results about Korovkin sets in the Segal algebra of a locally compact abelian group. Some other results are also obtained.
