This paper deals with the theorem of \textit{K. Zhang} [Ann. Inst. Henri Poincaré, Anal. Non Linéaire 7, No. 4, 345--365 (1990; Zbl 0717.49012)] on the biting convergence of Jacobian determinants for mappings of the Sobolev class \( W^{1,p}( \Omega \times \mathbb R^N)\). The novelty of the approach is in using the estimates in Sobolev spaces with exponents \(1\leq p\leq n\) developed in some previous papers of the second author, which compensate for the lack of equi-integrabiltiy. Moreover, there are some extensions to the so-called Grand Sobolev setting. Biting convergence of Jacobians for mappings whose cofactor matrices are bounded in \( L^{\frac{n}{n-1}} \) is also obtained.
