The authors extend the Casson-Gordon \(\sigma\)-invariants to links, and their definition leads them to a lower bound on the slice genus of a link. This bound is utilized to demonstrate that a certain family of \(2\)-component links has both genus and slice genus \(h>0\). The Murasugi-Tristram inequality would not preclude genus \(0\) for members of the family.
