The main novelty of this paper is that of focusing on the structure of the solution set of the nonlinear elliptic system related to the so-called Frémond model for shape memory alloys. The main result of the authors is the complete characterization of all possible solutions to the elliptic stationary systems (under considerations) with respect to different external temperatures. The authors show, in particular that, in a prescribed temperature range, the solution set contains elements that show a deeply structured alternance of martensitic variants, in complete agreement with the experimental evidence. A suitable concept of set stability is introduced, and the complete behaviour of the solution flow with respect to the external temperature is devised.
