The authors sharpen some known properties of the supercritical contact process. In particular the large-time corrections to the lower bound in the shape theorem and the covariance of spatially remote observables which is exponentially decaying in space, are shown to decay faster than any polynomial. Moreover, the shape theorem is shown to apply to the convex hull of the infected sites at time \(t\), conditioned on non-extinction. Reviewer's remark: The last statement of the abstract, that spatial correlations decay faster than any power of the distance, although true, does not correctly describe the results. As mentioned above, exponential decay holds, with superpolynomial correction in the large-time parameter.
