The authors investigate a one-dimensional simplified model of blood flow, obtained by integrating the Navier-Stokes equations over an axial section. The modes describes the pressure-wave propagation in arterial system taking into account the vessel-wall inertia, longitudinal prestress and viscoelasticity. Numerical simulation based on finite element Taylor-Galerkin scheme provide a resonable description of pressure-wave propagation in the arterial tree.
