A new finite integral transform method is applied to the wave model of conduction and compared with the standard method of solution of the hyperbolic conduction equation. The temperature fields coincide. The difficulties in applying the standard techniques are bypassed using the new method for the problem chosen. Then, the Cattaneo Vernotte model is tested through a comparison of its results with transient dynamics simulations existing in the literature. The agreement remains weakly qualitative when the used parameters of continuous model are near their equilibrium values. Use of diffusion time scale can give a qualitative coincidence but the agreement is never obtained for internal energy and flux density. The key to right explanation for these discrepancies seems to lie in thermodynamics.
