\textit{Landau} hat bewiesen, daß jede Zahl als Summe von höchstens 38 Biquadraten darstellbar ist; der Verf. reduziert die Zahl 38 auf 37. \textit{Landau} hatte dies schon ausgeführt (siehe F. d. M. 38, 227, 1907, JFM 38.0227.03), ausgenommen für die Zahlen von drei Restklassen (mod.\,48). Für diese drei Klassen wird der Beweis vom Verf. erbracht.
