Die Eigenschaften der vollständigen Quotienten in der Zerlegung der Wurzel \(\sqrt R\) in einen Kettenbruch werden gebraucht, um den Zusammenhang zwischen der Auflösung der unbestimmten Gleichung \(P^2-Q^2R=\)Const. und der Periodicität des Kettenbruchs zu zeigen, in welchen die Wurzel \(\sqrt R\) zerlegbar ist.
