This paper deals with a new anisotropic diffusion model for image restoration and segmentation. The problem is closely related to the minimization of the unconstrained total variation. Existence, uniqueness and stability of the viscosity solutions of the equation are proved. Experimental results are compared with the existing models of image restoration. The authors show the improvement of the model because it preserves the sharpedges.
