Spectral properties of Hamiltonians with a magnetic field under fixation of pseudomomentum. II. (Q1568027): Difference between revisions

In Part I [Theor. Math. Phys. 113, No. 3, 1543--1558 (1997); translation from Teor. Mat. Fiz. 113, No. 3, 413--431 (1997; Zbl 0963.47509)] \textit{S. A. Vugal'ter} and Zhislin constructed the Hamiltonian of a neutral system of \(n\) possible nonidentical particles in a homogeneous magnetic field with fixed pseudomomentum and started the study of the spectrum of this Hamiltonian. This paper continues the study of the spectral properties of such operators. General criteria for finiteness or infiniteness of the discrete spectrum are proved and, in the second case, the spectral asymptotics when the spectral parameter approaches the infimum of the essential spectrum are obtained. No restriction is imposed on the number \(n\) of particles. The applicability of these general results to the case of helium-like atoms is also proved.
