This work deals with the mixed finite element method as applied to nonlinear thin shells. The schemes that author applies were earlier suggested for solving linear problem of thin shell theory. Unlike the traditional mixed finite element schemes, these schemes are based on direct application of Lagrange functional (potential energy); they include the second derivatives of normal displacement as additional unknowns. The author examines the convergence of the schemes.
