The author deals with the local dynamics of a second-order nonlinear difference-differential equation with ``large'' delay. It is shown that, in the vicinity of ``critical'' cases, the structure of solutions is determined by the dynamics of an equation of the Ginzburg-Landau type, which plays the role of a normal form.
