The authors study an initial-boundary value problem to the semilinear damped wave equation \[ u_{tt}(t,x)+ \alpha u_t(t,x)= \Delta u(t,x)+ f(t,u) \] for \(x\) in a bounded domain \(\Omega\subset \mathbb{R}^n\), with the boundary condition of memory type \[ {\partial u\over \partial\nu} (t,x)+\int^t_0 k(t-s,x) u_s(s,x) ds=0,\;x\in\partial \Omega. \] For non-negative, non-increasing and convex kernel \(k=k(t)\) or for \(k(t,x)=p(x)e^{-t}\) and under suitable assumptions for the nonlinear term \(f(t,u)\) blow up results are proved using several different methods, in particular the concavity method of Levine.
