In this paper the author presents a nonstandard approach to the theory of the Fourier transform, extending the reviewer's work for the theory of Fourier series [\textit{W. A. J. Luxemburg}, Contrib. non-standard Analysis, Studies Logic Foundations Math. 69, 15-39 (1972; Zbl 0249.42001)]. It is shown that a hyperfinite version of the Fourier transform is bounded, a version of the classical Hausdorff-Young theorem. Similar results are presented for the hyperfinite discretized form of the convolution operator and Young's inequality and the theory of temperate distributions.
