A semigroup \(S\) is called left abundant if each \({\mathcal R}^*\)-class has at least one idempotent. A left abundant semigroup \(S\) is called left C-lpp if (1) the idempotents \(E_S\) form a left regular band, and (2) for each \(a\in S\) and \(e\in E_S\), \(ae=(ae)^+a\), where \((ae)^+\) is the (necessarily unique) idempotent in the \({\mathcal R}^*\)-class of \(ae\). It is shown that each abundant left C-lpp proper semigroup is embedded in a semidirect product of a left regular band by a cancellative monoid.
