The authors study resonances; these replace discrete spectral data for operators on non-compact domains. They consider a class of manifolds which generalize Euclidean space. They prove meromorphic continuation of the resolvant of the Laplacian to conic neighbourhoods of the continuous spectrum. They give an upper bound for the number of resonances and then obtain finer estimates under a stronger assumption of global analyticity and hyperbolicity of the geodesic flow to obtain a Weyl type estimate for the counting function for resonances in small neighbourhoods of the real axis.
