The paper deals with the system \[ \begin{cases} -\varepsilon^2\Delta u+u+\omega uv=|u|^{p-2}u, \quad\omega>0 & \text{in}\;\Omega,\\ -\varepsilon^2\Delta v=q u^2,\quad q>0 & \text{in}\;\Omega,\\ u,v=0\;\text{on}\;\partial\Omega,\\ u>0\;\text{in}\;\Omega ,\end{cases} \] over a smooth bounded domain \(\Omega\subset\mathbb{R}^3.\) By means of the Lusternik-Schnirelmann category theory, the authors show that the number of solutions of the system depends on the topological properties of the domain. Precisely, \(\text{cat}(\Omega)+1\) solutions exist if \(\Omega\) is non contractible.
