The authors use Riemann-Hilbert analysis and the steepest descent method of Deift and Zhou to obtain strong asymptotic formulas for the monic polynomials orthogonal with respect to \[ d\mu(x)=h(x)(1-x)^{\alpha} (1 + x)^{\beta} \prod_{i=0}^{n_0}|x- x_i|^{\lambda_i}dx, \;x\in [-1, 1], \] where \(h(x)\) is strictly positive and analytic, as well as to study the local zeros behaviour. They manage to show that the asymptotic behavior of neighbouring zeros around the singularity can be described with the zeros of a two terms linear combination of Bessel functions of the first kind. Indeed, their results refine results of Lubinsky, Yoram Last and Barry Simon.
