For an origin-symmetric convex body \(K\subset{\mathbb R}^n\) and for \(p>0\), the polar \(L_p\)-centroid body of \(K\) is the star body \(\Gamma_p^*K\) defined by its gauge function \[ \|\xi\|_{\Gamma_p^*K} =\left( \frac{1}{|K|} \int_K |\langle x,\xi\rangle|^p\,d x\right)^{\frac{1}{p}},\quad\xi\in S^{n-1}. \] Here \(|\cdot|\) denotes the volume, and \(S^{n-1}\) is the unit sphere. Suppose that \(D\) is a convex body such that \(({\mathbb R}^n,\|\cdot\|_D)\) embeds isometrically in \(L_p\). Extending results of Grinberg and Zhang, it was shown by \textit{V. Yaskin} and \textit{M. Yaskina} [Indiana Univ. Math. J. 55, No. 3, 1175--1194 (2006; Zbl 1102.52005)] that \(\Gamma_p^*D\subseteq \Gamma_p^*K\) implies \(|K|\leq|D|\). Corresponding to this volume comparison result, the present paper proves a separation theorem. Under the assumptions above, if \[ \|\xi\|_{\Gamma_p^*K}^p \leq \|\xi\|_{\Gamma_p^*D}^p-\varepsilon,\quad \xi\in S^{n-1}, \] with some \(\varepsilon>0\), then \(|K|^{\frac{p}{n}} \leq |D|^{\frac{p}{n}}-c\varepsilon\) with an explicitly given constant \(c\) depending on \(n\) and \(p\). A similar result for \(p=0\) (with an appropriate definition of polar \(L_0\)-centroid bodies) is also proved. Several corollaries are obtained.
