A strongly continuous semigroup on $L^p(X,\mathcal{A},\mu)$ for a finite measure space $X$ is shown here to be a Markov lattice semigroup if and only if the infinitesimal generator of the semigroup acts as a derivation on the space of $L^{\infty}$ functions in its domain. The second main result is that any semigroup of this sort is similar to a semigroup of Koopman operators in the sense that there is a compact space $K$ with a Borel measure $\nu$ so that $L^1(X,\mathcal{A},\mu)$ is isometrically Banach lattice isomorphic to $L^1(K,\nu)$, and that this isomorphism sends the original semigroup to a semigroup of Koopman operators on $L^1(K,\nu)$ induced by a continuous semiflow.
