Let \(X\) be an irreducible complex space and \(\Delta\) be the unit disk in \(\mathbb{C}\). The main results of the paper are as follows. For any countable subset \(S\) of \(X\), there exists a holomorphic map \(f:\Delta\to X\) such that \(S\subset F(\Delta)\). There exists \(f:\Delta\to X\) with dense image. There exists an infinite subset \(\Gamma\) of \(X\) such that \(\Gamma\cap Z\) is finite for every closed analytic subset \(Z\) of \(X\), \(Z\neq X\). Every holomorphic map \(f:\mathbb{C}\to\mathbb{C}^n\) can be approximated, uniformly on compact sets, by holomorphic maps with dense images. The corresponding statements in the real-analytic category are true as well. In addition, if \(D\) and \(D'\) are discrete subsets of a real analytic manifold \(X\), then every bijection \(f:D\to D'\) extends to a real-analytic diffeomorphism of \(X\).
