The present study attempts at reconsidering the methodology developed by Galileo Galilei, the so-called ``methodology of his intellectual revolution''. There are discussed several aspects of hydrostatics -- one of the fundamental concerns of his whole scientific carreer -- and of the theory of floating bodies. A special paragraph (with sub-paragraphs devoted to: water level, the weight of water in water, the equality of volumes) is dedicated to Galileo's theory of Archimedean buoyancy. Another treats in some detail his theory of mechanical buoyancy. The demonstrations developed in the study are supported by illustrative figures, which contribute to a better understanding of such highly abstract aspects. Mention is also made of Galileo's most famous volume entitled \textit{The Two New Sciences} which, unfortunately, he could not see any longer, as he had been already affected by blindness.
