The Hardy-Littlewood inequality that is referred to in the title of this paper reads \[ \int_{\mathbb R^N} u(x)v(x)\, dx\leq \int_{\mathbb R^N} u^*(x)v^*(x)\, dx, \] and \(u^*\) and \(v^*\) are the Schwarz symmetrizations of functions \(u\) and \(v\) for which the right hand side is finite. Here the inequality is extended to the case where the product of \(u\) and \(v\) is replaced by a more general function \(H(|x|, u(x), v(x))\). Of course one needs suitable structural assumptions on \(H\). They are too numerous to be listed here, but they allow for \(H\) to be for instance discontinuous in \(|x|\) or independent of \(v\).
