An IBVP for the nonlinear equation \(\tau\partial_t^2u(x,t)-\Delta u(x,t)+e^{i\zeta}\partial_tu(x,t)=\lambda |u|^p\), \((x,t)\in\Omega \times(0,T)\), \(u(x,t)=0, (x,t)\in\partial\Omega \times(0,T)\), \(u(x,0)=\epsilon f(x)\) and \(\partial_tu(x,0)=\epsilon g(x)\) for \(x\in\Omega\) in a two-dimensional exterior domain is considered. \(\tau\) designs a switching parameter. If \(u\) is the unique solution to the initial-boundary value problem and data satisfy some requirements, there is proved that for \(p>1\) and \(p\leq 2\), the solution blows up at finite time. In the special case of \(p=2\), the following upper bound is provided \(\mathrm{LifeSpan}(u)\leq\exp[\exp(C\epsilon^{-1})]\).
