Let \(T\) be a continuous self-mapping of a metric space \((M,d)\). This interesting paper is concerned with points which are almost fixed, in the sense that \(d(Tx,x) < \varepsilon\). (Such a fixed point is called ``\(\varepsilon\)-fixed''.) Various theorems and examples are given. It turns out that theorems about \(\varepsilon\)-fixed points usually have simpler statements and proofs, as well as wider application, than the corresponding fixed point theorems. The topics covered include relations between \(\varepsilon\)-fixed points and fixed points, finding \(\varepsilon\)-fixed points constructively, common \(\varepsilon\)-fixed points, the \(\varepsilon\)-fixed point property, and sets of \(\varepsilon\)-fixed points.
