The notion of finite or semi-finite \(C^*\)-algebra as defined by \textit{J. Cuntz} and \textit{G. K. Pedersen} in [J. Funct. Anal. 33, 135-164 (1979; Zbl 0427.46042)] is reformulated for a separable AF algebra in terms of its dimension range (the set of Murray-von Neumann equivalence classes of projections, with addition defined on pairs of classes with orthogonal representatives).
