This paper deals with the equation naturally arising from the study of conformal geometry. Let \(\Delta\) be the Laplace operator in the Euclidean space \(\mathbb{R}^n\) of even dimension \(n\). The authors consider the following \(n\)th order equation \[ (-\Delta)^{n\over 2}w =(n-1)!e^{nw},x \in\mathbb{R}^n \tag{1} \] for even dimension \(n\). Let \(\alpha= {1\over|S^n|} \int_{ \mathbb{R}^n} e^{nw} dx\). The authors prove that for each \(0<\alpha <1\), there exists at least one solution (1), while \(n=4\) they obtain the existence of radial solution.
