The author [Osaka J. Math. 39, No.~3, 561-603 (2002)] earlier introduced and characterized shift-similar additive random sequences and discussed their transience and rates of growth. In this paper he presents important examples of such sequences which are intimately associated with supercritical branching processes. The results are applied to two types of laws of the iterated logarithm for a Brownian motion on the unbounded Sierpiński gasket. He also establishes an extension of the Bingham-Doney-de Meyer theorem [\textit{A. de Meyer}, J. Appl. Probab. 19, 217-220 (1982; Zbl 0481.60077)] on the limits of supercritical branching processes.
