    The author considers a so-called multiplicative representation and gives some (formal) illustrations of its usefulness for different approximation problems. The underlying idea is rather general: the difference in question is represented by the basic formula of analysis when extreme points are connected via path in an appropriate functional space. Then the difference to estimate is obtained by the mean-value theorem along the path. This rather universal observation is illustrated by various examples starting by the Berry-Esséen type convergence estimate for the central limit theorem and finishing by the convergence rate for the Euler approximation of semigroups of operators.
