Im Gewässerschutz spielen Studien über den Transport von Biomasse besonders in seichten Gewässern eine wichtige Rolle. In der geophysikalischen Strömungsmechanik werden häufig zweidimensionale Modelle verwandt. Hier wird für ein solches Modell die Existenz beschränkter Lösungen bewiesen.
