Nonlinear discrete-time stationary control systems are considered. Using the theory of passive systems and the concept of feedback equivalence, sufficient conditions for the global stabilization problem are derived. It is generally assumed that nonlinear difference state equations can be divided into two separated classes and only one of them contains a control function entering linearly. The proposed stabilization method is similar to the one presented in the paper [\textit{C. I. Byrnes} and \textit{W. Lin}, IEEE Trans. Autom. Control 39, 83-98 (1994; Zbl 0807.93037)]. The paper contains also simple examples and several remarks and comments on stabilization methods for nonlinear discrete-time dynamical systems.
