In a famous preprint [``Calabi-Yau algebras'', \url{arXiv:math/0612139}], \textit{V. Ginzburg} introduced \(q\)-deformed Calabi-Yau algebras. In case that \(q\) is not a root of unity, these are Calabi-Yau algebras of dimension \(3\). However, when \(q\) is a root of unity, these algebras are finite dimensional Frobenius algebras. The authors call them ``almost Calabi-Yau algebras'' which are \(SU(3)\) generalizations of the preprojective algebras for Coxeter-Dynkin diagram \(ADE\). The authors' motivation to study these algebras in fact comes from subfactor theory of von Neumann algebras. In an earlier paper [Commun. Math. Phys. 312, No. 1, 179-222 (2012; Zbl 1267.81275)], the authors determined the Nakayama automorphisms of these Frobenius algebras and constructed periodic bimodule resolutions. In this paper under review, they compute the Hochschild (co)homology and cyclic homology of these almost Calabi-Yau algebras. It is shown that the Hochschild (co)homology and cyclic homology of \(A\) can be regarded as invariants for the braided subfactors associated to the \(SU(3)\) modular invariants. It would be interesting to compute various structures, say, cup product, Lie bracket and BV structure, over the Hochschild cohomology of these almost Calabi-Yau algebras.
