Let \(X\) be some metric space endowed with a Borel measure \(\mu\). The centered Hardy-Littlewood maximal operator is defined for \(f\in L_{loc}^1(X, d\mu)\) by \[ M_{\mu}f(x)=\sup_{r>0}\frac{1}{\mu(B(x,r))}\int_{B(x,r)}|f(y)|d\mu, \] where \(B(x,r)\) denotes the open ball of radius \(r>0\) centered at \(x\). A related analogue of \(M_{\mu}f\) is its uncentered version defined as the supremum of all averages of \(f\) over all open balls containing a give point. Some recent advances of these two kinds of maximal function inequalities are introduced. The authors show that for every radial function \(f\in L^1(\mathbb{R}^d, d\mu)\), \[ \lambda \mu\{x: M_{\mu}f(x)>\lambda\}\leq 2(C+1)\|f\|_{L^1(\mathbb{R}^d, d\mu)}, \] where \(\mu\) is a radial measure on \(\mathbb{R}^d\), and satisfies \[ \mu(B(x\sqrt{1-r^2}, r\|x\|_2))\leq C\mu(B(x,r\|x\|_2)), \;0<r\leq 1. \] The authors also give a better constant for the special case as follows: fix \(\alpha>0\), \(d\mu(y)=dy/{\|y\|_2^\alpha}\), then for \(d\geq \max\{1, 2\alpha\}\), and every radial function \(f\in L^1(\mathbb{R}^d, d\mu)\), \[ \lambda \mu\{x: M_{\mu}f(x)>\lambda\}\leq 2(4\cdot 6^{\alpha/2}+1)\|f\|_{L^1(\mathbb{R}^d, d\mu)}. \]
